How to Replace the 71494 Diverter Valve in a Hot Spring Tiger River and Limelight Spa

71494 Diverter Valve

Welcome to Backyardplus! In this post, we show you how to replace the 71494 Diverter Valve in a Hot Spring, Tiger River, and Limelight spa. Before we get started, let’s go over the tools and parts you will need.

Tools you will need:

Flat head screwdriver
Phillips head screwdriver
Pliers
Needle nose pliers

Parts you will need:

71494 Smart Jet Water Diverter Valve Kit
34350 Divert Valve Snap Ring
71799 Diverter Valve Retainer
73360 Smart Jet Lever and Bezel

Step 1. Remove the lever and bezel with a flat head screwdriver.

Step 1. Remove the lever-

Step 1.1 Remove the bezel-

Step 2. Loosen the two screws and remove the diverter valve retainer.

Step 2. Remove the retainer-

Step 3. Remove the snap ring with needle nose pliers.

Step 3. Remove the snap ring-

Step 4. Remove the diverter valve by pulling straight up on the stem.

Step 4. Remove the diverter valve-

Step 5. Cover the two small O-rings with silicone grease.

Step 5. grease the small o rings-

Step 6. Place the two small O-rings inside the donut piece.

Step 6. Place them inside-

Step 7. Cover the large O-ring with silicone grease and place it in the outside groove of the donut piece.

Step 7. Cover large Oring-

Step 7.1 place on outside-

Step 8. Install the donut piece over the stem of the diverter valve.

Step 8. Install over stem-

Step 9. Press the diverter valve straight down into the body and make sure the large O-ring is seated properly.

Step 9. Install the vlave-

Step 10. Install the new diverter valve retainer.

Step 10. Install the new retainer-

Step 11. Install the new diverter valve snap ring.

Step 11. Install the new snap ring-

Step 12. Install the new diverter valve lever and bezel.
