Welcome to Backyardplus! In this post, we show you how to retrofit your 2009.5 – 2012.5 Hot Spring spa with the 77433 control panel, and the 76836 Eagle control box. Before we get started, lets go over the tools and parts you will need.
Tools you will need:
- Jigsaw or reciprocating saw
- File
- Silicone
- Smal flat head screwdriver
- Phillips head screwdriver
- Needle nose pliers
- Pliers
- Putty knife
- Sharpie
Parts you will need:
- 77433 Control Panel
- 76836 Eagle Control Box
Step 1. Break the silicone seal with your putty knife and remove the panel.
Step 2. Unplug the control panel from the control box.
Step 3. Remove the silicone adhesive with your putty knife and clean with rubbing alcohol.
Step 4. Measure the new panel and mark the lines with a Sharpie.
Step 5. Enlarge the hole with a jigsaw or reciprocating saw and file.
Step 6. Trim the equipment door frame if needed.
Step 7. Place a 1/4” bead of silicone around the entire edge of the control panel and glue it in place.
Step 8. Disconnect the incoming power wires from the terminal block.
Step 9. Disconnect the white, black and green heater wire from the terminal block.
Step 10. Disconnect the jet pumps from the motherboard.
Step 11. Disconnect the circulation pump from the motherboard.
Step 12. Disconnect the ozone, light power supply, logo light, sensors pressure switch and aux panel.
Step 13. Remove the old control box from the mounting bracket.
Step 14. Mount the new control box to the mounting bracket.
Step 15. Connect the incoming power wires.
Step 16. Connect the black and white heater wires to H1 and H2 (You can connect the black and white to either H1 or H2. Connect the green heater wire to the heater ground screw.
Step 17. Connect the jet pumps.
Step 18. Connect the circ pump.
Step 19. Connect the ozone, logo light, sensors, pressure switch, aux panel and control panel.
Step 20. Unplug Zone 1 from the light controller and plug it into a light adapter. Plug the light adapter into Zone 1 on the motherboard.
Step 21. Do the same thing with the Zone 2, Zone 3, and Zone 4 lights.
Step 22. Remove the old light power supply and light controller from the spa. They are not used on the Eagle control system. Throw them in the trash!
