How to Soften the Water in Your Spa with the Vanishing Act Calcium Remover Pillow

Welcome to Backyardplus! In this post, we show you how to use the Vanishing Act calcium remover pillow. Before we get started, lets go over the parts you will need.

Parts you will need:

  • 76029-1 Vanishing Act Calcium Remover Pillow
  • 80090-1 Freshwater 5 Way Test Strips

Step 1. After filling your spa, test the water for calcium hardness with a test strip. If the hardness is above 100ppm, use the Vanishing Act calcium remover to soften the water (25-75ppm for salt systems, 75-150ppm for other systems).

Step 1. Test the water-

Step 2. Rinse the Vanishing Act calcium remover with running water until it runs clear. 

Rinse the pillow frame at 0m14s-

Step 3. Place the pillow flat side down over the heater return in the footwell for 12 hours.

Step 3. Flat side down-

Step 4. Turn the pillow over and reposition it over the heater return for another 12 hours.

Step 4. Turn it over-

Step 5. After a total of 24 hours, remove the calcium remover pillow and discard.  

Step 5. Remove the pillow-

Step 6. Test the spa water for calcium hardness with a test strip.

Step 6. Test the hardness-

The calcium hardness went down to 75-150ppm. Good job!
