How To Update The Software And Program The 79781 Eagle 2 Spa Control System

Welcome to Backyardplus! In this post, we show you how to program and update the software in the 79781 Eagle 2 Control Box.

Step1. With the power off, plug the 79781 control panel into the Control Head Interface port on the motherboard.

Step 2. Plug the flash drive with the software downloaded from the zip file into the USB port on the motherboard.

Step 3. Connect power to the spa.

Step 4. If your Eagle 2 control box was built before February 2025, the graphic uploading process may take up to 15 minutes. The diagnostic lights will flash from left to right while uploading the software. After the green Power On light starts flashing, press and hold the Set Up (SW1) button on the motherboard for 3 seconds to enter service mode.

Step 5. Touch Select to see a list of spa models.

Step 6. Touch Next to select your spa model. Touch Select to confirm your spa.

Step 7. Disconnect the power and remove the flash drive.

Step 8. Connect power to the spa.

Step 9. Verify the software and spa model. For Highlife spas, press the Settings icon and then press the info button.

Step 10. For Limelight spas, follow these steps:

1. Press the Options (hard button).

2. Press Setup (soft button).

3. Press More (soft button).

4. Press More (soft button).

5. Press Software (soft button).

6. Verify spa model and software.

My Hot Spring Grandee jacuzzi would not come on after I drained and cleaned it. I was certain something was wrong with the motherboard so I called the local dealer to discuss my problem. They couldn't provide any information over the phone but did say they could send a tech out in 3 weeks but I had to pay an upfront service fee to get on the schedule. I asked if they could give me an estimate if the motherboard had to be replaced. They said if that was the problem the part was discontinued and they would have to do a retrofit in the field. He was kind enough to walk me through several steps as I tried to reset the panel. It took quite a bit of his time because I was having a hard time plugging the ribbon cord back into the slot. He was very patient with me until I was done. It didn't reset immediately so I ordered the parts and that was an easy process. A few hours later I noticed the spa was on. Within a few more hours, the jacuzzi was at 101 degrees and working perfectly. I received the parts in 2 days. There is no fee if I decide to send them back. I highly recommend Backyard Plus for your spa needs. I also want to thank Rebekah and Paul for their help and knowledge helping solve my problem.
