What is an Ozone Generator? An ozone generator injects O3 (Ozone) into your hot tub’s water in order to help remove impurities from the spa water and reduces the amount of chemicals needed to maintain clean water. Ozone (O3) can remove contaminants like oils, lotions, detergents, etc. and can even kill some bacteria and micro-organisms in the spa water. It’s important to note, that while Ozone DOES NOT replace sanitizers like chlorine/bromine, it DOES bind to impurities that your sanitizer would normally bind to which then frees up that sanitizer to do it’s job of disinfecting the water. These bound up and clumped up impurities can then be dealt with by your hot tub’s filter. This assistance from the Ozone helps the chemicals last longer and reduces the frequency of having to shock the water.
