Troubleshooting the 76033 Logo Light in a 2009 – 2018 Hot Spring and Limelight Spa

76033 Logo Light

Welcome to Backyardplus! In this post we are going to show you how to troubleshoot the 76033 logo lights in your 2009-2018 Hot Spring spa. Under normal operation, your spa logo light should be solid blue and solid green. The solid blue light indicates your spa is properly supplied with power and the solid green light means that your spa water is within 2 degrees of the set temperature.

BLUE LOGO LIGHT

The logo light is solid blue when the spa is properly supplied with power. When the blue light is off, it means that there is a problem with the spa control box, or the power supplied to the spa.

FLASHING BLUE LOGO LIGHT

A flashing blue logo light means that the spa is in high limit trip or protection mode. Disconnect the power for at least thirty seconds to reset the heater high limit. If it will not reset, it could be caused by one of these things:

GREEN LOGO LIGHT

The logo light is solid green when the spa water temperature is within 2°F (1°C) of the set temperature and will turn off when the temperature is outside of that range. If you increase or decrease the temperature setting of the spa, the logo light will turn off until the spa temperature reaches the acceptable range for the new set temperature.

FLASHING GREEN LOGO LIGHT

A flashing green logo light indicates that a problem exists with the temperature sensor or topside control head (2009.5-2012.5), or control box (2012.5-2018). Here are the steps to diagnose and fix the issue.

Step 6. Meter across the two leads-

Thermistor Testing Procedure

  • 1. Disconnect power from the spa.
  • 2. Set the meter to 20K on the OHM scale.
  • 3. Record the temperature of the spa water.
  • 4. Unplug the thermistor from the control box.
  • 5. Meter across the two Thermistor leads.
  • 6. Refer to the Temperature versus Resistance chart below to find the correct resistance value for the temperature measured. If the temperature and resistance does not match that of the chart, this test has failed and the thermistor must be replaced. Remember if the spa has been inactive, the spa water temperature may be different than the water temperature in the heater housing.

If your spa is a 2009.5-2012.5, and the temperature thermistor passes the test, you must replace the topside control panel. (This topside control panel is obsolete, but we do offer a retrofit kit for your spa). The retrofit kit is the 76836 Eagle box and the 77433-control panel.
