Vico Wet End Replacement on a 36675-01 or 36675 Wavemaster 7000 Jet Pump

Welcome to  Backyardplus! In this post, we show you how to replace the Vico wet end on a model 36675-01 or 36675 jet pump. Before we get started, let’s go over the tools and parts you will need.

Tools you will need:

  • Phillips head screwdriver
  • Flat blade screwdriver
  • ¼” impact driver
  • 11 mm socket
  • Hammer
  • Vice Grips
  • Hacksaw
  • Tri-Flow Lubricant

Parts you will need:

  • WE36675-01 Vico Ultimax Wet End Kit
  • 34447-x2-BYP Compression O-rings
  • ML-10Z-BYP Silicone Grease
  • 32267 Barbed Fitting (Hot Spring)
  • 33732 Barbed Fitting (Tiger River)

If your model 36675-01 or 36675 jet pump has the letter V stamped on the wet end like the ones in these photos, it means it has a Vico wet end. The Vico wet end can only be replaced with the 36675-01 Vico Ultimax wet end kit.

Step 1. Loosen the Phillips head screws and remove the volute cover.

Step 1. Remove the volute-

Step 2. Loosen the bolt with the ¼” driver and remove the vent shroud.

Step 2. Vent shroud-

Step 3. Loosen the impeller by holding the shaft in place with a flat head screwdriver while turning the impeller counterclockwise with your hand.

Step 3. Remove the impeller-

Step 4. If the impeller will not loosen, use your flat head screwdriver and hammer to break apart the impeller where it surrounds the shaft.

Step 4. Break apart the impeller-

Step 5. Hold the shaft in place with your Vice Grips and remove the impeller by turning it counterclockwise with your hand.

Step 5. Loosen the impeller-

Step 6. Remove the four long bolts that hold the wet end to the motor with the ¼” driver.

Step 6. Remove the bolts-

Step 7. If the long bolts will not loosen, cut off the legs of the wet end with a hacksaw to loosen the bolts.

Step 7. cut off the wet end-

Step 8. If the shaft is rusty, cover it with Tri-Flow lubricant.

Step 8. Lube the shaft-

Step 9. Loosen the volute cover bolts on the new wet end with the 11mm socket and remove the volute cover.

Step 9. Loosen the volute bolts-

Step 10. Secure the volute to the motor with long bolts.

Step 10. Install the bolts-

Step 11. Install the impeller by holding the shaft in place with the flat head screwdriver and turning the impeller clockwise.

Step 11. Install impeller-

Step 12. Remove the volute O-ring and cover it with silicone grease.

Step 12. Lube the O ring-

Step 13. Reinstall the volute O-ring and tighten the volute cover bolts.

Step 13. Reistall the O ring-

Step 14. Install the barbed fitting and O-ring.
