In this post, we are going to teach you how to replace the 4 Position or 2 Position Smart Jet Selector Valve (more commonly known as the diverter valve) on your Hot Spring, Limelight, Hot Spot, or Tiger River spa. If the Smart Jet Selector Valve on your spa is leaking, or the handle is very hard to turn, just follow these steps. This repair is pretty easy and won’t take up too much of your time.

Tools Needed

  • Phillips Screwdriver
  • Flathead Screwdriver
  • Pliers
  • Snap Ring Tool (or Needle Nose Pliers)

Step 1. Remove the handle and bezel. Use a flathead screwdriver to pry up and remove the handle and bezel of the selector valve.

Step 2. Use a Phillips Screwdriver and take out the two small screws that are holding in the sleeve, more commonly known as the diverter valve retainer. After both screws are removed, use a Flathead Screwdriver to pry up and remove the sleeve.

Step2-

Step 3. The last thing that holds the valve into place is a “C Ring” or Snap Ring. Use the Snap Ring tool to squeeze and remove the Snap Ring. Place the tool into the two small holes of the Snap Ring, squeeze the tool, and pull out the Snap Ring. Note: If you do not own the Snap Ring tool, you can use a pair of needle nose pliers instead.

Step3-

Step 4. Use a pair of pliers to pull the diverter valve by the valve stem. Take note of how the o-rings go onto the diverter valve when removing it so that you can replicate this with the new diverter valve.

Step4-

Step 5. Remove the new diverter valve and accessories from the packaging. Open the bag of silicone grease and apply it to the two smaller o-rings. Then, place the two small o-rings onto the diverter valve stem. Now place the white donut piece onto the diverter valve with the ridge side facing away from the diverter valve. Finally, grease the bigger o-ring and place it onto the ridge of the white donut piece.

Step5-

Step 6. With the new diverter valve assembled, place the valve back into the diverter valve body stem side up. Use your thumbs to push the diverter valve down into the body past the recess that receives the snap ring.

Step6-

Step 7. With your snap ring tool or a pair of needle-nose pliers, gently place the snap ring back into the snap ring recess. NOTE: We recommend installing a new snap ring as the old snap ring can become brittle and damaged over time.

Step7-

Step 8. Place the diverter valve retainer back into position and fasten it down using the Phillips screwdriver and two small screws.

Step8-

Step 9. Reinstall the bezel and handle by simply pressing them down into place by hand. Make sure you test the selector valve to ensure that it is working properly.
