- Phillips Screwdriver
- Flathead Screwdriver
- Snap Ring Tool (or Needle Nose Pliers)
Remove the Handle and Bezel
Use a flathead screwdriver to pry up and remove the handle and bezel of the selector valve.
Remove the Valve Sleeve
Use a Phillips Screwdriver and take out the two small screws that are holding in the valve sleeve. After both screws are removed, use a Flathead Screwdriver to pry up and remove the sleeve.
Remove the Snap Ring
The last thing that holds the valve into place is a “C Ring” or Snap Ring. Use the Snap Ring tool to squeeze and remove the Snap Ring. Place the tool into the two small holes of the Snap Ring, squeeze the tool, and pull out the Snap Ring.
Note: If you do not own the Snap Ring tool, you can use a pair of needle nose pliers instead.
Remove the Diverter Valve
Use a pair of pliers to pull the diverter valve by the valve stem. Take note of how the o-rings go on to the diverter valve when removing it so that you can replicate this with the new diverter valve.
Assemble the New Diverter Valve
NOTE: Be very careful when handling the silicone grease. It is very difficult to get out of clothing.
Remove the new diverter valve and accessories from the packaging. Open the bag of silicone grease and apply it to the two smaller o-rings. Then, place the two small o-rings onto the diverter valve stem. Now place the white donut piece onto the diverter valve with the ridge side facing away from the diverter valve. Finally, grease the bigger o-ring and place it onto the ridge of the white donut piece.
Insert New Diverter Valve
With the new diverter valve assembled, place the valve back into the diverter valve body stem side up. Use your thumbs to push the diverter valve down into the body past the recess that receives the snap ring.
Insert Snap Ring
NOTE: We recommend installing a new snap ring as the old snap ring can become brittle and damaged over time.
With your snap ring tool or a pair of needle-nose pliers, gently place the snap ring back into the snap ring recess.
Reinstall the Valve Sleeve
Place the valve sleeve back into position and fasten down using the Phillips screwdriver and two small screws.
Reinstall the Bezel and Handle
Last but not least, reinstall the bezel and handle by simply pressing them down into place by hand. Make sure you test the selector valve to ensure that it is working properly.
NOTE: If the handle or bezel are cracked, you will want to replace them with a new Handle and Bezel.
