Welcome to Backyardplus! In this post, we show you how to replace the 73916 air control valve piston in your 2006 – Forward Hot Spot, Tiger River, and Hot Spring spa. Before we get started, let’s go over the tools and parts you will need.
Tools you will need:
- Flathead screwdriver
- Needle nose pliers or snap ring tool
- Pliers
Parts you will need:
- 73916 Air Control Valve Piston
- 70825-BYP Snap Ring Tool
- Silicone Grease, ML-1OZ-BYP
Step 1. Disconnect power from the spa.
Step 2. Remove the air control lever by prying upward with a flathead screwdriver.
Step 3. Remove the air control valve stopper with needle nose pliers or a snap ring tool by turning it counterclockwise. Set the stopper aside.
Step 4. Firmly grasp the top of the piston with your pliers and pull it up and out.
Step 5. Cover the rubber parts of the new piston with silicone grease.
Step 6. Align the arrow on top of the piston with the arrow on top of the valve body.
Step 7. Push the piston into place inside the valve body.
Step 8. Install the control valve stopper.
Step 9. Align the tip of the air control lever over the arrow on the valve body and press the lever into place.
