Wavemaster Jet Pump Replacement: Essential Guide

In this post, we are going to show you how to do a wavemaster jet pump replacement in just a few simple steps. This job is fairly easy and should have your spa up and running in no time. But before we get started let’s identify the tools you will need.

TOOLS YOU WILL NEED TO REPLACE YOUR WAVEMASTER JET PUMP:

  • Phillips head screwdriver
  • Flat head screwdriver
  • Large Channel locking pliers
  • Pliers
  • Silicone grease
  • Plumbers tape

Step 1. Disconnect power from the spa.

Step 2. Drain the spa.

Step 2. Drain the spa 2-

Step 3. Remove the IQ 2020 control box lid and disconnect the Wavemaster jet pump from the motherboard.

Step 3. Remove the lid-
Disconnect the jet pump wires-

Remove the strain relief clamp and pull the Wavemaster jet pump cord through the bottom of the control box.

Step 3.5 Disconnect the wires and cord-
Pull the jet pump cord through-

Step 4. Remove the mounting bolts that hold the Wavemaster jet pump to the floor of the equipment compartment.

Step 5. Remove the mounting bolts 1-

Step 5. Loosen the suction and discharge compression fittings on the Wavemaster jet pump. Loosen the hose clamp on the bleed line nipple and remove the hose.

Step 4. Loosen the compression fittings 1-
Step 4.5 Loosen the bleedline hose clamp 1-

Step 6. Carefully remove the jet pump from the spa.

Step 6. Remove the old jet pump-

Step 7. Remove the old O-rings from the suction and discharge fittings. Use silicone grease on the new compression fitting O-rings and install them onto the fittings.

Step 7. Remove the old O rings-
Step 7.5 Lube and install the new O rings-
Step 7.75 Lube and Install Disgharge O ring-

Step 8. Wrap the threads of the new bleed line nipple with the plumber’s tape. Install the new bleed line nipple onto the volute cover of the new jet pump.

Step 8. Tape bleedline nipple-
Step 8.5 Install bleedline nipple-

Step 9. Install the new jet pump. Reconnect the vent shroud to the exhaust hose (if needed).

Step 9. Install the new pump-
Step 9.5 Connect the vent shroud to the exhaust-

Step 10. Connect the bleed line hose to the bleed line nipple. Tighten the suction and discharge compression fittings.

Step 10.5 Connect the compression fittings-

Step 11. Secure the jet pump to the floor with the mounting bolts.

Step 11. Secure the jet pump with the bolts 1-

Step 12. Push the jet pump cord up through the bottom of the control box and tighten the strain relief clamp.

Step 12. Jet pump cord and strain relief-

Reconnect the black, white, and green wires to the jet pump terminals on the motherboard. Re-install the IQ 2020 control box lid.

Step 12.5 Connect the jet pump wires-
Step. 12.75 Install the IQ2020 Lid-

Step 13. Refill the spa through the gray filter standpipe and check for leaks.  

Step 13. Refill the spa 2-

Step 14. Reconnect power to the spa. You’re all done!
