Your 3/4″ elbow has a 1/4″ barbed nipple coming off of the curve of the elbow and is most often found on the suction side of the Silentflo 5000 and 5002 circulating pumps. This is a “Production Only” part and not available from the factory. We provide the individual parts and you assemble. The contents of this kit was originally assembled by service techs and later adopted by Hot Spring via item 77427. The 3/4″ x 3/4″ x 1/4″ bleed line fitting has a 1/4″ nipple (30598). This nipple will insert into the 19/64 hole that you will drill into the 3/4″ elbow. The 1/4″ vinyl tubing, that’s coming from the front of the Wavemaster jet pump attaches to this nipple. The purpose of this 1/4″ tube is to draw out air from the circ pump and heater so they can quickly fill with water quickly and prime. This is achieved by immediately activating the jet pump once the spa is powered up after you refill. The 1/4″ line also helps the circ pump and heater drain out all the water since that 1/4″ line is also attached to the drain on the spa.
Note: Use PVC primer and then cement on the 3/4″ barbed fittings only.
Use NO PRIMER but just pvc cement on the 1/4″ barbed fitting. Primer will make the 1/4″ barbed fitting go limp. Not good! Wait at least 24 hours to attach any vinyl tubing to this newly installed assembly. When attaching the 1/4″ vinyl tubing to the 1/4″ barbed fitting, make sure to warm up the tubing either with a hair dryer or dip the tubing into a cup of microwaved hot water. This will make it easier to very gently slide it onto the somewhat fragile freshly glued barbed fitting.
